WW2 rucksack - but which type?

Hey guys!
I just bought a rucksack but not sure which type it is.
Not the 2 pocket M31 nor the 3 pocket 'Gebirgs' and a bit big for the single pocket 'Artillery'

Any ideas? ..... but its in good nick!

I think just it's a general issue variation

Thanks matey.... yes probably but in looking at dozens of photos i haven't seen the same variety - a M31 but with one central pocket?

Well over on the WAF I have seen these described as a "kleine Gebirgsjäger Rucksack" like the Arty Rucksack but with a leather trimmed fkap and extra leather loops. The 3 pocket sacks sre called "Grosse Gebirgs Rucksack"

I don't think it's an artillery pack , I believe they were carried by Y-straps .

I think the earlier ones used straps.

But weren't they smaller then this one also ?

Yea, I believe so. There are actually a lot of differences on second look. It looks like an M31 with one pocket.

Thanks fellas. I'm still leaning towards a GB pack, though. We have some experts, must be on Summer holidays......
