I know there are repros of these cups, and they are made
of plastic - is it truly Bakelite ?
Rub it heavily with a finger or run it under hot water.
If you notice an awful smell, it is Bakelite.........

Looks like a repro to me (the repros all have these markings !!)
But it is easy to determine: tap on it with your fingernail and tap on real bakelite: you will notice the difference

I think Tom is right I have seen these on some sites do advertized as Plastic repo replacement cups with the same markings. some sites sell them as real. That is why I passed on a orange one just like it same markings. timothy

I tapped it and compared it to my original black one and the black one "clicks" when you tap it. This one sounds different when tapped. So it could be a reproduction. Which is alright cause I can use it for reenacting! haha

I ran it under hot water and there wasn't any smell.

glad you can laugh about it.

Well I didn't pay anything for it. I got it in a trade so I guess I can..

Yep! haha....Not many reenactors wear the colored bakelite cups. I do plan on wearing it to events in my impression. It will be much different than always wearing a black cup.
