Aircraft part?

Article about: Hello, Anyone any idea what this is, please? I have had it for around 25 years, my Grandad used to mix paint with it in his cellar. Thank you in advance, Mark.

    Looks like a radio antenna from the photos - Definitely RAF as it has a part code on it - Code prefix is 10BB - & 10 B is Radio and radar aerial and mast equipment and insulators IIRC

    They are called a 'Strake' - don't know why I know this - but that is
    what I believe it to be as well. Very cool.........!

    All sorts of stuff had those fitted, usually just behind the cockpit on fighters.

    It does remind me of a Spitfire one, but I thought they had a lug at the top to hold the aerial cable itself ? As RickWG says, many aircraft had these so difficult to trace it exactly.

    It appears to have a decal stating what raido types it was suitable for use with, but I can't read it - perhaps if it is easier to read from the actual object, you could google the type and see what they fitted to?
