HI all
Well, I today received a package from a gentleman I met through a metal detecting forum. His father had recently passed on and, when sorting through his personal belongings, he came across a stack of paperwork, just as it was about to be thrown in the bin !!!! He knew about the work both myself and the RRPG do to preserve WW2 relics, and I couldn't believe it when he said that the paperwork was from his fathers service as an ammunition storeman during WW2, AND that he wanted it to go to a good home...........mine.
Gobsmacked.
When I opened the package I was gobsmacked again. It contained all the typed lecture notes from the training his father had been through to be an Ammo Storeman. Everything from small arms ammo to artillery shels, gaines, fuses, detonators, grenades......EVERYTHING was in these notes. Not only that, but it also contained drawings of EVERYTHING !! Almost 500 pages of typed notes on ammo. Amazing.
And what is more amazing was that there were even his fathers original hand written exercise books from 1943 !!!! These contained hand drawn pictures of ammo, notes on its use, storage, transport.....EVERYTHING.
You can probably tell I am a little excited.
Oh, and three original small arms pamphlets as well
Here we go. LOTS of pictures to share.
The exercise books first and pamphlets. Next post will be the typed lecture notes
