Welcome back. How much did you pay for the civil gas mask and carrier? I just saw one today in an antique mall but didn't get it. Not sure a value on them. PM me is you'd like. Thanks. Nice finds too!

Is that a tin type Blitzkrieg. Civil war photography is fascinating.
I believe some were called Dagaueretypes. Might have mispelled this. if that is legit it could be worth some good cash. Have it checked out. Wish I could tell you more but am no expert myself. Hopefully someone else will chime in.
It is a cabinet size photo of a post civil was state militia probably mid 1880s
Steve, would a State Militia be the same as a Military Academy - or be made up
from one - as this is what it looks like to me.........
It's a great photo. These are also called 'Carte de Visite'.
Regards,
Steve.
I always liked the Civil Defense helmets. They were "dime a dozen" when I was a kid but you don't see them too much any more.
Thanks
Burt
Thanks guys!
I had no idea it was post civil war...seemed period. Oh well. I still love it.
If I could read the cursive on the back, could anyone direct me to a website where I could research the names? Any online archives?
Thanks! I like the one with the decal a bit more. I haven't been seeing too much of these either....probably sucked up by collectors. They are neat pieces and don't cost a fortune.
