    Default Car boot finds

    Hi all

First time poster, so I hope this works...
After browsing car boot sales for some time now with no success (the expectation is half the fun!) I've had a small result.
A nice 1939 dated British lid. In good condition with a good solid liner and plenty of spring in the strap. Not bad for £3.50!
Although this maybe outside the scope of this site (and not really my area), the D-Day anniversary spoon is a nice little trinket. I haven't been able to find out anything about this so any information would be helpful. I may sell it onto someone who'd appreciate it (can this be done here?).
Thanks for listening. This is an interesting site.

Hi Brian, welcome to the forum!

Good finds. Great price on the helmet.

We have a classified section for sales.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Hello, and thanks.

I do feel a bit guilty about that price, but he was happy with the deal and I didn't really know it's value till I looked it up.

Good score on the helmet, a very good price and the spoon is an interesting item I have not seen before.

    Thanks Jerry.

Are there any safe ways to clean the helmet up a little, or should it be left alone?

    Cheers,

    Brian.

    Hi Brian,

it looks fine to me, though a gentle wipe with a slightly damp cloth is probably fine if you think it needs it. Most collectors these days think it is best and most desirable to leave them in an as found condition.

The spoon looks like for loose leaf tea, which in 1984 would have been more the norm than now, with teabags.
