nice, great find, I picked up a uss Yorktown cvs 10 patch the other night, it's so old you can see through it in a couple of spots, sorry I don't have anyway to post picks, got it for 3.99 a real great buy, but no one even bid on it except me. I will probably find a small frame for it & display it by it's self. great battle damage pic's in your book, you got a great grab on that book.
regards Marty
thanks marty!
wish you could post pics of patch.
makes up for all the trips with nothing to show for it.
What a superb book.

thanks steve. i have been trying to get an idea of how common or how scarce the book is.
so far all ive found is a copy on cd for 50 bucks.
i know folks get tired of hearing whats it worth, but sometimes you cant help yourself!
sooooooo anynoe care to speculate?
That is only the second one i have seen other than my grandfather's. Cool book!
thanks AURktman.
if youre grandfather served aboard the sara thats wayyyyyy cooler!
Thanks creutz! He passed away this October at 88 years old. He was on the forward port 40mm gun sponson that was hit by a kamikaze on 21 February 1945 in the battle of Iwo Jima. Of the 16 men on that sponson, he and 2 others survived. I remember him saying that one of the other survivors did eventually pass away due to wounds.
I am truly sorry to hear that.
his passing is a loss to all of us.
