Here is another recent find, that im a little confused on I was told it was a flag holder? , but I belive it to be a 30.cal mg barrel cover, any idea what the writing means or what it is? the bottom is leather re-enforced.

I believe your 'Air University' patch is post WWII ( March 12, 1946 ) - still cool !
The canvas piece shown above definitely looks like a barrel cover as you say,
and not a 'flag holder'. Can't help you with the code #'s though.

Good work, Mo ! - Five Bronze Stars - Wow.........!

5 Bronze Stars?! If true, that's quite an accomplishment. I wonder if the family mistook 5 bronze campaign stars for the actual Bronze Star medal (although technically he would have warn a silver campaign star). I've seen other obits where similar mistakes have occurred. Definitely worth sending off to NPRC for his records to find out...

Hahaha 5 bronze stars If thats true he must have had a heck of a time in Europe especially with no purple hearts... Steve is the air university a post war only thing? Or did it exist before? Thanks for the information guys

It did exist during the war, but under the name 'Army Air Force School of Applied Tactics',
and used the standard AAF winged star logo, with an arc above. However the patch
you show came out when the name changed to 'Air University' in 1946
    or soon after.........
