Yep same here Blackened brass hardware if this is not down to age ?, on the buckles and eyelets leans more towards a U.S. army item, again I'm also still looking at this as possibly WWI due to the Stencil script style and the Herringbone tape strap, the yanks stop using "V" weave or herringbone tape sometime in the late 1930's as most WWII gear has plain weave "tabby" tape instead. It of course could be a commercial bag made for the military market, or to appeal to camping enthusiasts, which has ended up in military service. As to function, tent pegs? animal feed ? mail bag ? or at least something related to a company or unit, and thus has a number for identification and allocation to a set group.

    Hello Polski44,

Thank you for the reply and picture. Good match.

The 'bag' has this week found a new home, so someone knows what it is!

    Kind regards, Malcolm.

That mask isnt WW2 though, its a post (1960's/70's) version used for industrial purposes, the main differences being the filter cannister on the front and the rubber head harness. I think the bags for these masks are also post war but are certainly based on WW2 designs like the mask.
    Thanks

Spot on Danny, .. I believe this mask was of 1960's vintage.

The bag is know doubt the same (1960's), ... but I'm sure I've seen photo's from WW2 of Nurses wearing an "over the shoulder" type general purpose bag for carrying the CD type mask like the one in the original thread lead.

I've just done a little more research on that 1960's industrial mask, the bag is also made by Siebe Gorman (the company which made the mask)
    Thanks

i think that a soldier probably took these badges from his enemies for war souvenirs.
