Hi Andrew, fakes of German camo helmets are seen much more often than originals. Some are easier to tell apart from others.

Sorry but the chinstrap makers stamp is one often found on repros

I would say that the paint is not original. The wear to the edge of the helmet rim appears very new and bright. The whole thing has been overcleaned.
