Default hot-water bottle made from shell

    Hi !

I got this one from my grandmother. She bought it after the war in the eastern part of the Netherlands (where she lived). Am I right when I say the shell is american?
    The engravings say:

    25PR II

    LA OT 2710

    61-F

    1944

    C.F.

    E.C.C.

For which gun was the shell made for?
    any opinions?

    Thanks!

i would say possibly a bit more because it isn't your normal run of the mill item possibly a max of £30 if very lucky
(i say that because trench art has been slowly increasing over the years)

Sorry to disappoint re value - these are surprisingly common on French markets - don't usually bother with them at all now, as I am a collector and already have one nice example and they are never decorated - around 5 to 10 Euros regardless of whether made from WWI or WWII cases.

I agree! There is one for sale on a Belgian or Dutch forum at 25€, coming down from 35 and still not sold.

Nice use of an old 25lber case

As the others have said, British, made in 1944, 25lber gun, (the arrow on the base of the shell denotes the 'War department' which ID's it as for use in the British military).

As for value, the only 2 I have bought were from car boot sales and both were less than 5 euros. They are very common.

    Cheers
