Article about: Hi ! I got this one from my grandmother. She bought it after the war in the eastern part of the Netherlands (where she lived). Am I right when I say the shell is american? The engravings say

Definitely worth keeping - I was only being realistic re monetary value - It is still a piece of history and should preserved - careful if using it though, the brass is a very good conductor of heat and if the water is very hot........ More of a bed pre-warmer than a hot water bottle and was probably very effective on damp sleeping bags? so I have often wondered if these were actually used by the troops?
