OP, don't be surprised if the flag is a seabee souvenir. I have a flag obtained from a relative that he got in Korea as part of the early occupation force there. His unit was rehearsing for the pending invasion when the bombs were dropped, then they shipped immediately to Korea. The flag was obtained there in Korea along with a Type 26 revolver. The flag has characters on it that signify his name and address, and a buddy's name and address. They had that done there as a memento. It's just as important to me as any other battle flag.
