My latest pick-ups at Earlestown market today... An intact and matching numbered bolt for a Mauser Gew98 rifle, and a reasonably presentable WW1 sword to a rifle regiment. Scabbard a bit tatty, but otherwise a nice sword! Apologies for some of the pictures. I didn't notice that the camera was still on manual focus!

Fortunately/unfortunately - it depends how you view these things, but it was still complete and matching. There was a coating of surface rust, but no pitting. Now it just so happens that my own Gew98 had a complete miss-match bolt, and someone had spent some considerable time polishing the metal. I've just spent an hour or so in the shed - grinding down the front of the new bolt to the required angle so that it meets the deactivation specs. It is a vast improvement on the original bolt, and it only cost me £10...
