Hi Steve. There is discussion among collectors as to wether these were simply produced BY the SS or worn by the SS (on their greatcoats). It might easily be a matter of both cases being correct.

Nice Catch being free! I should be so Lucky! Well..I can't say that actually. I bought a WKC Army Dagger with no issues from a man that I worked with for $25.00. He said that it hung on a nail in his shed for years. He said that his Father-in-Law brought it back from the ETO in 45.
