Thought you all would like to see this Japanese Shin Gunto and its bullet impact. Given to me by the widow of a WWII Pacific Theater Army Vet. Oral history is that he picked it up on one of the Pacific islands. Wife said he never talked much about what happened. A 30-06 bullet fits nicely. The sword can be removed from the scabbard with a bit of difficulty and is very slightly marked from the impact.

It's much more impressive than the pictures can show. To actually hold it is a little eerie, but then I've always had an active imagination. Unfortunately the gentleman descended into the darkness of Alzheimers and passed on before I could get him to write circumstances down.

Wow that's an attention getter. Active imagination aside, if your Japanese Shin Gunto get's hit with a bullet, it's a bad day.
