Interesting story. When I was a kid I had a neighbor who landed at Normandy, had boxes full of stuff - german military medals, misc gear, a helmet, Luger, couple of battle flags, etc as well as all his US kit, silk maps, his .45 and M1, etc. He had a buddy in Supply and was able to ship a bunch of stuff home during the war. This was back in the 1960's so it wasnt that big a deal. I was 8-9 and was facinated by his stories. Heard years later that his wife threw everything away when he passed on (except the guns, gave those away). Man, wish I'd seen that coming !
