    Default Airborne Assault !!!

As an ex member of British Airborne forces i have always been aware of the distinction between military parachuting and so called sport parachuting but the real test is making the a combat assault by Parachute or glider.

I have been lucky enough to have met veterans who have been involved in some of the most Famous Airborne Assaults in history , Kreta , Normandy , Arnhem and the Rhine Crossing / Operation Varsity but i'm interested in other not so well known Airborne assaults on a large scale or a more tactical level such as the Para drop into Suez in 1956 and the German tactical drop in the Ardennes and at Drvar , if any one has knowledge of other such operations please post them here ,

    regards

    Paul

The Soviets also carried out a major drop although i can't for the life of me remember the details! Vyazma seems to ring a bell in 1941 or 42.
