    The British assault onto Sicily in July by 2,200 men of the 1st Air landing Brigade in gliders and the 1st Parachute Brigade consisting of 1, 2 , 3 Para whcih assaulted the famous Primosole Bridge, where British Airborne and the German Fallschirmjager slugged it out for control of the vital bridge.

    Two more the British airborne drop during Operation Dragoon the July 1944 invasion of the South of France and thedrop on the 12th October 1944 by the 2nd Independant Parachute Brigade into Greece , Operation Manna

    That's abit strange - that makes 2 British/Commonwealth operations in WW2 called Manna - this one and also the food drops over The Netherlands in 1945.
