Article about: by KriegMann I've also noticed that they will leave items alone if they swastikas are covered up in the listing. No they don't, ive had them taken off before even when covered. The only way

I forgot to add that ebay keeps changing its selling format, used to choose between start selling and advanced, with choice of borders, when i listed my latest item there was none of that also there's no choice of what colour or style of writing either,i thought it all looked a bit dull, also not sure of international shipping costs.NCA you are truely a gambling man.............

My best advice is just don't list on eBay. They're just a bunch of money grabbers IMO.

Any recommended alternatives? Not just for militaria but any items?

Go to flee markets (carboots) and set up, or just ask around at vendors that are selling the similar items that you are if they are interested to buy any items. Put a few ads in the papers maybe. So far this is what I've had the best luck with when it comes to selling.

Another good idea is to ensure that your listing ends on a weekend night (friday-sunday). That way you know that most people will not be working/out of work already and there will be a bigger audience. If you have it end on Wednesday at 2 pm then your audience will be much smaller.
Yes, and they will be good and drunk! ..just from my experience, I've bid high on items I normally wouldn't have if I were not three sheets to the wind.. But as said, good pictures, short and sweet explanation , and reserve price for the least amount you'll except.

For militaria, try Militaria Auctions | Militaria Marketplace | WARSTUFF, theyre quite good, but im afraid Ebay is generally the quickest way of selling, mainly because it has so many shoppers.

I never use a reserve price as I have found that it tends to be a bit pointless, why start an auction at 99p with a reserve of £30? why not just start the auction at £30??

Specialistauctions.com is another reasonable site for selling.

Or if its militaria, you could always PM me and I could happily list it on my site for you, no charge, no commission.
It really depends on what the item is, and how quickly you wish to sell it.

    Kind regards
    Ed

Quite true, I have sold on ebay for a while, even had an ebay shop at one point, until I realised I was paying over £400 in fees and commission.
Set up my own website now for £25 a month saving £350, and only use ebay as a marketing tool really.

eBay are a bunch of greedy hypocrites anyway. They allow swastikas on stamps and coins, but not on anything else.

I hate the one's that end on friday or saturday.... when you are sitting in the restaurant with you wife ....and bidding!! ...."honey what are you doing ...? Is thise a other message from work?? ...." ....or the waiter bringing or asking things on the crucial momments....
Always looking for Belgian Congo stuff!
