I assume it is a post war issued example as it has green grommets. Best wait for the Aussie members to chime in.

Whatever its just an opinion.
I stopped at 160 $ AU, it is currently at 197.50$AU
You know there was a bag full of old webbing for sale on UK ebay a matter of weeks ago and I thought about it and decided not to bother in the end.
One of the items in the pile was a crumpled slouch hat and it's only lately I've come to realise how much they go for. Well it all went for about £30 in the end and I kick myself every time I see one now. I think they are fantastic looking hats, good luck with the bid mate.
This WWI example sold recently for 5 grand!

Oh my god I don't want to know, it may have been one of those in the rubbish heap and I let it pass for £30!
Hi Nuno, the hat looks good to me, a little bit beaten up and mothed but it looks original. The air vent grommets are the right size they are just worn back to the bare metal which is common on a well worn hat. The silver looking stud or rivet that is holding the chin strap in place is weird though possibly a war time or post war replacement as the hooks that usually holds the chinstrap in place were prone to popping out after a while. The patch is original but I can't comment as to if it is original to the hat but it seems to be and it is also a pretty rare / uncommon patch.... $197.50 is cheap for a hat like this although the missing liner will keep the price down as most die hard collectors won't touch a hat without one, which is silly as most guys serving in the tropics removed them a lot of the time under orders from their CO.
If you want a decent original complete WW2 slouch hat be prepared to pay upwards of $1000 and higher depending on the unit and provenance.
Cheers Luke.
