    Army B-24 Liberator pilot missing from WWII laid to rest at Arlington.
    The remains of World War II Army Air Corps aviator 1st Lt. John E. Terpning are escorted by the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) Caisson team to the pilot's burial site at Arlington National Cemetery on April 3. Terpning was killed with nine crew, May 7, 1944, when their B-24 Liberator crashed into the New Guinea jungle while on a bombing mission. Wreckage and remains were not discovered until 1973. Positive identification was made through DNA sampling in 2013.

    Just saw this post and did a Google to see "the rest of the story"; came across A New Guinea Jungle Yields Its Grisly Secret, and the Men of Bomber 081 Come Home at Last : People.com which is not the same plane. However, the interesting part is that the story claims there are still more than 500 Allied planes missing on New Guinea!
