DC is not a good place for military that I am aware of. Closer towns around DC will have stores but I do not know which ones. A lot of American Civil war stuff in Virginia. DC borders on Virginia, Maryland and Delaware. It has been a long long time since I was there. Back then you stayed away from 14th through 18th streets. That is where they have the nude bars and porn shops but there are a lot of poor black folk around there. Don't pick up any good looking girls with big adams apples.
When you fly in you will land outside DC. Take a bus into town it will cost about 1/4th to 1/3 what a taxi costs. Ask to see your room before you pay so you don't get stuck in a piss hole.

Thanks for the tips Steve. I'm not a collector of ACW militaria, so I will stick around DC. I hope to find something atleast .

There are some places around Gettysburg that have WWII items. I know of one antique shop that is almost all WWII items. It's not far from where I live. But Steve is correct, this area is full of Civil War items. When exactly are you coming? You've got a friend in the DC area

In addition, know where and where not to go in DC

    Hey Todd,

Thanks for the reply ! Yes, that place seems to be filled with ACW militaria and no surprise there . I find the conflict interesting, even if I don't collect. It would be way too expensive for me anyways . I'll be in DC 24.05-03.06.

I'll be down the beach a few of those days, and then back home towards the end of your trip. PM me when you get ready to come here and remind me. If we can make it work I'd love to meet up. If you don't have hotel reservations yet, let me know. I know of a few very nice hotels in the DC and Alexandria area, not too expensive but 4 star worthy.

I hope you have a nice trip! Todd is local and can help you locate something you're looking for, I'm sure. I was there 2 years ago and stayed at the L'Enfant Hotel. If you're looking for a place to say, it's walking distance to everything, Capitol, WH, Smithsonian Museums, etc. It's a really nice Hotel and the steaks were excellent.
