All Quiet on The Western Front has to be My choice.Even in these times of special effects and top Hollywood actors this film comes out on top.

I've seen a LOT of war films, good and bad, in the last 60-odd years ....................

................. this one is DEFINITELY the best.

Band of Brothers and Pacific are great series, but if we are listing our favorite war MOVIES, mine include (and I know these date me!)
    Sahara
    The Big Red One
    The Longest Day
    The Thin Red Line
    A Bridge Too Far
    Cross of Iron
    A Walk in the Sun
and a fantastic movie that reveals the impact of war on young men
The Best Years of Our Lives

Just went through the old posts and I don't know how I forgot to include one of my all time favorite movies of any genre - The Young Lions!

    Hello,
    To each their preferences
    For me :

    Capitaine Conan for WWI

    1944 for WWII

La 317ème section (317th platoon) for the indochina war

L'honneur d'un Capitaine and L'ennemi intime for the Algerian war
    Thanks

The sacrifice of life is a huge sacrifice, there is only one that is more terrible, the sacrifice of honor

Oh man, I'm a huge classic film lover...there are so many! I know some have already been listed, but here's mine (and I really had to pare it down):

All Quiet on the Western Front (1930)
    Battleground (1949)
    Stalag 17 (1953)
    Mister Roberts (1955)
    To Hell and Back (1955)
    Paths of Glory (1957)
    The Longest Day (1962)
    The Great Escape (1963)
    MASH (1970)
    Patton (1970)
    Gettysburg (1993)
    Saving Private Ryan (1998)
Band of Brothers (Mini Series) (2001)
    Enemy at the Gates (2001)
    Gods and Generals (2003)
    Downfall (2004)
    Saints and Soldiers (2004)
    The Hurt Locker (2009)
    Dunkirk (2017)
    1917 (2019)

    Some that are war-adjacent:

    The Great Dictator (1940)
    Lifeboat (1944)
    Since You Went Away (1944)
The Best Years of Our Lives (1946)
    Judgment at Nuremburg (1961)
