Question Can't figure out this badge...

Have had this cool looking badge in my collection for a while now and I take it out every now and then to try to figure it out. No luck yet, so I'm hoping somebody here will be able to ID it or at least point me in a new direction.
About 2 1/4" diameter, seems to be copper, I was guessing 30s-40s era.
Design of a flying shoe with initials JBW or JWB in the background (the W is notably larger, so depending on if they were using a traditional "monogram" style)
The back has an applied wire pin fitting and is stamped "90" along the bottom edge.
It's a real head-scratcher for me, so hoping one of you all might be able to shed some light...

    thanks.

Hmmmmm....that is an odd one. Don't think it is military related of course.

I've never seen anything like this and would doubt many others too.

But take a step back and try to figure out the meaning of the symbol. A shoe with wings....

So...to me, the obvious place to start is Hermes (Greek) and Mercury (Roman). What to they represent? Messengers and/or travelers. Maybe start there.

A messenger? A travel club? Or maybe a running/track club?

    Best I could do.
