Collecting Nazi memorabilia is it wrong ?

Some people like soccer,bird-watching or maybe collecting stamps. Others like to study and collect ww2 stuff.
It's not stranger than that

Yeah but we could look at the allies in the same way if we wanted, the Russians killed so many Germans soldiers and civilians as they took over Eastern Europe and committed many war crimes, but as they won there is nothing bad said.
The UK/US are said to of killed many POW. If Germany won would the war crimes trials be held the other way around with the Russians and Allies being held responsible for the war and any war crimes the Germans felt they done.
War is bad......

Have you heard the tenet that "History is written by the victors"....????

This thread is getting off track and posts defending the crimes of the Waffen SS will not be allowed. This thread is not about Soviet memorabilia but 3rd Reich. Keep on track or the thread will be closed and deleted. We are not here to either defend or appear to be Nazis.

people don't realise SS was the elite fighting divisions of the SS and people collect their items from soldiers not items from any camps or camp guards.

It is a mistake to think of the personnel of the Waffen SS as somehow separate from the SS as a whole. Aside from the commonality of ideology and the fact that they were all part of the same organisation it was very common for men to be transferred from the camps to the fighting units and back. To give one example, the notorious Josef Mengele served first on the eastern front in the Wiking Division, where he was wounded, after which he was transferred to the Auschwitz extermination camp. Jochen Peiper was of course Himmler's adjutant for a period, so although not posted to the camps, was in a position to be fully connected to the whole operation of the SS.
