I still think the historic value of this flag - now ruined - had it
stayed together, would have been worth more than
    all the little cut-offs.........!

A proper conservator could have mounted what was left of the flag and made it presentable as a collectable. I saw a Confederate silk unit flag that had become nothing but a ball of thread put back together and made museum presentable To me, this is nothing more than breaking up a grouping to fulfill the most basic of human faults, greed.

Oh, wait - if it was ME that found what I thought to be an old historic
flag in a trunk in an attic, I'd first take it to a historian or advanced
collector to find out everything I could about it - Also known
    as 'research'.

If it were someone else who had no idea of it's historic or monetary
value, it would probably end up in a yard sale for
    around $100.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

I dont think its vandalism. Its been paid its honors and retired. So what if the company is out to make a buck. they treated it with dignity by not letting it just being trashed. Now those who like such relics may own one. Why not? No harm no foul is the way i see it.

LOL, I really have no idea. But even in pieces, the historic value has
to be greater in a complete flag - or what is left of one - not in
hundreds of almost indescernible scraps of cloth.........
