A letter my grandfather sent home which made the local paper after D-day. He was in the second wave and I am quite proud of him as well as all service men.

My American grandfather (101st Airborne) parachuted into France on D-day and was shot through the hand and into the stomach...He survived the war but became an alcoholic and killed himself drunken driving in 1956...My grandmother blamed the Germans.
    cheers, Glenn

I always take a short walk every 6th June from my home here on the South Coast of England to the edge of the Channel and look out to sea towards France and think about those who may have done the same in 1944 knowing that they were going on that great endeavor and wonder what their thoughts were, we will remember them.

Lots of respect for those guys - They fought and died
so that we could live in the relative freedom
    we have today.

Thank you D-Day Vets, past and present.........
    Regards,
