    Default eBay Police

Dear collectors. I am sure your all familiar with the "eBay police" this morning I had a request from someone asking to see more photos of what I was offering. They disclosed an email address, I do not believe them to be genuine. However, since sending more photos of an item, my listing has been removed. Suspicious?? Yes!! I did not show anything offensive in my listing.

Ebays rules for this stuff are so contradictory. They allow stamps and coins on the grounds that they were "officially produced by the state". Hmmm so are medals and badges of all countries too I'm guessing.

Either way I think it important that the addresses of these people be made public, so that others can safeguard their eBay sales.

What are your views on this?

There's no real proof that the said person reported you to e-bay, so really you can only put this incident down experience I'm afraid.

With E-bay, (while the point has been raised), you must remember that it is a privately owned, and run business.
So in reality, they can do as they please without any cause for recourse.

I think most people selling have at one time or another had an auction pulled .... it's just the way it is .. they call the shots.

    Sadly Gary they do...

I just cannot work out their logic. I don't know if they have been stung by people selling fakes as originals in the past. This would cause more trouble to the eBay teams admin departments than anything else.

For now they rule the roost, until something better comes along to challenge them :-)

my message really is be careful everyone

I agree with you Alan, it seems that a business would want to sell as much as they could. If selling TR items was 80% of Ebay's business I can assure you, they would have no qualms about listing them. But, since it is such a small percentage of their gross sales, they can remain politically correct. As Gary mentioned, it's their company, so we have to play by their rules.

Thanks for your input Jay. I know there are two sides to everything. And eBay don't want to be renown for being the ultimate place to buy items from the 3rd Reich. But they do allow coins and stamps that depict Hiler, the swastika and even SS men. I just don't understand the fine line between medals which display the swastika and paper work. I am pretty sure even Ebay wouldn't be able to explain that. Could it be the reward for military "merit" from this regime they don't like? Would that justify a racial hatred policy?

What you need to bear in mind is that complaints to e bay are often from people selling the same type of items as you , they want to remove the competition so will make a complaint about something being " Nazi / SS/ Swastika etc to get it removed so their wares sell for the highest price

This is VERY typical of Ebay. If you're going to send pictures of an item, get the persons' email address. Never use the "Reply" button to send pictures. I work off of the ebay net alot when I want to ask or send questions/pictures.

REMEMBER....Big Brother monitors the site. You can put a TR item up and it will be listed..at the most for three days. Then I can tell you FOR SURE it will be pulled.

Most of us are collector and do it for a hoby and the historical interest..not for racial or demeaning. Hell Ebay sells porn and alot of that is WAY more offensive than TR items.

Remember too, Ebay also owns PayPal. They get you coming and going. But however bad they are, it is still the biggest shopping forum in the world to find things.
