I have had some auctions of cigarette picture albums stopped by ebay, while others were selling the same thing at the same time. And trying to ask ebay the why's and whereabout's will only result in standard generated replys.
As you said: they call the shots. We just have to adjust to it :-)

E-bay certainly DO pick and choose what they allow to be sold. They allow the insignia of the worlds worst killing machine to be sold, but not the swastika. Stalin's regime butchered about 26 million, but they were our allies. So that's ok then. And look at all the fraudsters that are selling on e-bay. Do they try to stop them when you complain? Do they hell! It would affect their profits too much. Now that's what I call a social conscience.

Do not whatever you do leave feedback on E-bay, recently an american lawyer received negative feedback from the sale of A $44 dollar clock, he decided to sue the buyer for defamation of character for $15.000 dollars, the sale took place in 2008 and the buyer was not happy that pieces of the clock arrived in 3 pieces in 3 different shipments, he filed a complaint with ebay and received a refund. He later left negative feedback, which read "bad seller with the ethics of a used car saleman" The buyer thought that was the end of the matter, but in Feb 09, he received a court summons as seller and Lawyer Elliot Milller felt that this comment had ruined his 100% positive feedback rating., and therefore sued for damages, the case has yet to close but the buyer has already had to shell out $7,000 in legal fees.Odds are that he will also lose the case.

Precisely why, on the few occasions that I have used eBay, I have never left a feedback score, (that and Im usually too lazy to follow it up!

    That's absolutely insane. ^^^

Going back to a previous thread, I think you are right about the Ebay police being people selling the same stuff and trying to rid the competition.

There is one seller on there, who last week managed to sell a west wall, a russian front medal and some other bits. He is registered as a business seller too.

What you need to bear in mind is that complaints to e bay are often from people selling the same type of items as you , they want to remove the competition so will make a complaint about something being " Nazi / SS/ Swastika etc to get it removed so their wares sell for the highest price
    You got it correct.

AMEN! I talk about communist symbols being as offensive to me as swastikas are to the Jewish community, but it still OK for US high school kids to wear their CHE shirts? Besides the point, Ebay was under pressure from the Jewish community to remove the Nazi stuff. It was in the news when it happened. The funniest part is that if the Swas is that offensive, then everything should be removed, not just the original items; but the books, coins, stamps, everything! They pick and choose and we lost because we are not book publishers.

Lucky us non Americans, we cant be civil sued on E-bay ... you have to live in the states to get sued by an American. So we are free to leave feedback as we like. No harm will come to us.

    Hi All
Iteresting thread i used to sell lots on ebay but got sick of the high charges then the double hit of pay pal. I nont use paypal at all no matter how bad i want the item if the seller wont take a cheque or cash on pick up i let it pass. as for what the let you sell or not well the only choice you have is put up with all the stress or stop using the site and go somewhere more in tune to our interests like this site or specialist Auctions has the odd good item though it seems to move slower there. millweb is good also or even gun star.
Is all out there i have purchased maybe 3 items of ebay in 12 months and once you get used to not bidding you dont see the site in the same light.
lots of times it is bidders that report an item if they ask you to end early and you say you want to let it run it will be off within 24 hours usualy.

You must live in a country that has no laws on defamation - in fact all of European EC countires have defamation laws so if someone is slandered on the interne or in the media or at work , they can get sued.

    Some goods news though:
