    Another vote, albeit biased, for the Polish wz.31 (model 1931) The wz.31 was considered to be on the cutting edge of helmet design for the time, using a chrome-molybdenum alloy shell, quick release chin strap, and the anti-reflective “salamandra” paint finish. I recall reading where it was an influence in the development of the US M1. I’m not sure how true that is, but one can see definite similarities. The Poles used cork in their paint to provide the anti-reflective finish which was a new concept, and I believe the US used this method with some of the M1's as well.
