    I gave it another go tonight, and managed to fit it at least somewhat properly. It's closer to the brim in some places than others, but it's secure on the helmet, and doesn't feel like it'll come off easily. I ended up untying the ends of the drawstring, pinning the net over the brim with clothing pegs and then tightening and retying the string. I'm left with a lot of spare drawstring, but it certainly looks the part now!
