The Great Martian War 1913 - 1917

Article about: image.jpg Anyone else enjoy The Great Martian War 1913 - 1917? "...The Great Martian War 1913 - 1917 tells the imagined story of the catastrophic events and unimaginable horrors of 1913

I think the idea was very good, however there are great flaws in the story line, it is well done for the better part. There is no Thunder Child in this one, and the Martians have protective shields again, unlike the original Novel where they did not and we could knock them out.
Entertaining and that's what it was for.

    When is the re run?....
Sky Guide - Great Martian War

"This one-off documentary event casts itself back 100 years to 1913 and looks at what could have happened had Martians invaded. The subsequent events are re-told through mock footage, historians and first person accounts of a time when the world was plunged into a four year-long war and every nation would unite against the alien foe."

    An enjoyable two hour entertainment.

As usual, by the time it gets to 'free to air' down here the history channel becomes the ancient history channel.

Jeff Wayne's musical version, but also Byron Haskin's - rather liberal - classic movie adapation from 1953.

Serious as black smoke and heat rays. Not a musical in the true sense, though. It started life as a concept album, but there have been later stage productions. (The Richard Burton narration mentioned earlier in this thread was a reference to the musical version, too.)

For more info, see: Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wayne also did an musical adaptation of Spartacus, by the way.
