Westland Lysander P12 "Wendover". It was intended as an Army co-operation aircraft for strafing ground and marine targets, and also as a training aircraft for RAF turret gunners.

Apparently the ugly looking thing was a very good design in terms of its handling

Spot on again Rob.

It used the French Delanne concept of front and rear wings and as you say was highly manuverable.
I believe only one was ever built, K6127 and she was scrapped in 1944 even though the design was basically successfull.

This is Mr Fred B Collinge. What nationality was he? Which regiment and division did he belong to?

He is Canadian,Royal Canadian Horse Artillery?
3rd Canadian Division?
The Regiment is one of three I think but i'm now stuck.
I'll go 14th Field Regiment as a guess.

Ok I will go one last time.
13th Field Regiment as a second guess.If incorrect again I think that will leave only one other option.
If right someone will have to go in my place as I will be away for a couple of day's.

You have the wrong division... and the insignia was only worn by one regiment in one division.

I've given it away now haven't i?
