    Initially invented to stop homing torpedo signals being blocked, it is today the basis of many computer comm's systems including Bluetooth....So, not just a pretty face then!

    Correct!!!

    Werner Hartmann was awarded the EK1 and EK2 on the same date: November 8, 1939. This photograph was taken at that ceremony.

    So you just had to ID the guy, notice the just-awarded EK2 and you'd get the date.
