Help on a civilian eastern knife

hello,
is there any body out there who could help me on thise one.
What I know is that; to me it seems Chinees or Japanese, made of a bone ,that it is 28 cm. long and it came several years ago from a house I had to clear and it have been ever since on my desk for opening my letters .

Perhaps it was made by a Japanese whaler. I guess it was a pastime for all whaler's to do 'scrimshaw'. You might have a collectors item there. Maybe some antique dealer might be able to help you. Or look up scrimshaw knives on the old 'Google'.

What you have there is an early 20th century Oriental knife in a fish
bone sheath. It is NOT scrimshaw
Is the answer I 've got from one of the guy's I' ve send my request to.
Thise will only affect the price (....less!!)...it still have to go.

Well, it's still a nice piece to have. And it must have it's own story. Maybe a Harry Carry knife?

Well, I am not so found about Eastern artifacts. I always used it to open my letters, and I found a good replacement.
