It will be very interesting to hear what Adrian manages to find out with this latest lad. You mentioned helmets-what all kind of stuff is he saying he found in this attic?

I know I digress slightly from the topic of the thread but I was on an internal flight in Cuba a few years ago. It was a twin engined aircraft with only about five windows a side. I got up and went to the back of the aircraft with my camera and took a photo out of each side of the plane. It wasn't until I got the photos back I saw that there was a different engine on each wing!!!
True story!

It is good to digress slightly from the topic of the thread a bit from time to time (especialy with themes as thise!!)

My story was true as well!
It hapenned when I was a child in Congo allong with my father a few other passangers, also on a internal flight with a charted plane for my fathers compagny. We sat in the same space the pilot was. First engine to fail was one of the wing engines,and the pilot went like "no prob's we still got two, then the nose engine failed and he said no prob's still got one! It was very quiet during that flyed!! Generaly the adult always went like "blablablabla"...but not thise time.

Hope you don't mind me joining in the digression gents, before he retired my dad was a pilot, he first started flying when he was sixteen. When I was a kid he was crop dusting so we lived all over Australia but always in the bush because of dads work. Fortunately we had the plane so everywhere we went we took the plane, we hardly drove anywhere. One time my dad and myself were flying home from town and the window on my side of the plane decided to fall out! I watched it spiral down till I lost sight of it, not as exciting as losing an engine but the sudden rush of air certainly snapped me out of daydreaming!

My dad was a pilot too and we lived in New Zealand when I was a kid at the time and on weekends Dad used to tow gliders up from the local aerodrome in his single engine Auster.
Other weekends he would attend 'fly-ins' at various aero-clubs around the North Island and one time the cloud closed in so bad we got lost and dad had to drop to ground level to read a road sign in order to get his bearings. As it turned out we were over a fairly mountainous region and it was more good luck than anything we didn't plow into a hillside instead.
Dad made us kids swear silence too, I think Mum only got told about it 20 years later!

you are correct. it's no guarantee. i have seen this sort of thing happen before even with known members as you point out!
just a personal policy i have to help minimize the chances.
but there is no "fool proof" way.
and it's meant as absolutely no offense to any new members who sell. it's just a personal thing to me that i practice and a world that, let's face it, can be pretty tough sometimes!

If this was about buying say, a car,nearer to home, never mind across the Atlantic, and not a couple of helmets what would you have done by now? Yeah, me too...Forget it.
