Not really a Nazi, per se.....but Jürgen Prochnow was superb as the Captain on "Das Boot"....(in fact, the entire Cast was excellent, imo)
Bruno Ganz was very good as Hitler in "Downfall" also..

    Good thread Nick.

I'd echo the thoughts regarding Ganz (as Hitler in Downfall), Fiennes - who portayed Amon Göth in Schindler's List, Prochnow (Das Boot), Waltz (albeit patently in an entirely different type of role) in Inglourious Basterds - nevertheless, the man is a superb actor. I'd also mention Harvey Keitel in The Grey Zone, who plays Eric Mühsfeldt, and another mentioned earlier, Thomas Kretschmann, who is also always fine in his roles (Stalingrad, The Pianist, Downfall, Valkyrie and In Transit). Finally, I cannot fail to make note of Kate Winslet's portrayal of an ex-SS-Aufseherin in "The Reader", as she too, was superb.

Watching Schindlers List for the umpteenth time I really noticed how convincing Ralph Fiennes portrayed Goethe.

Fiennes also left an impression on Mila Pfefferberg, one of the "Schindler Jews" and a survivor of KZ-Plaszow, who was introduced to the actor on set. The poor woman was reminded of the Kommandant Amon Göth to such an extent that she began to shake uncontrollably.

I believe Fiennes himself was disturbed by playing the role
