My compliments to the moderators

Article about: I would add two more things, firstly the modding decisions are made in regards to the best interests of the forum and all its members and with the rules of the forum in mind. Generally these

A Couple of things here, MODs do NOT rule, I used to ride BSA's Canadian Mods were pussies!!! LOL
I think the recent problem we had between diggers, was more a mis-understanding of words. Both of those members are good honest people.
I watched that thread, and did not understand why it went that way..as both members are good people, I was at a lose as to what was going on...however I think I now understand it.
One of these members Lives far away ( well both do), but as one member is a lot better with English and the other is not, I think that's how it all started,
The online translaters can really mess up words and ideas..not to mention concepts.. I can see both diggers do what they do in a removed setting as I am in Canada, and both do the same thing, recover bodies and turn them over to the proper people that deal with this sort of thing.

We that speak English from different places I the world still have problems understanding what is ment by a sentence or statement and people can take things the wrong way...I have done it myself more time than I would rather remember!!

So with problems with language...it must get far worse!!

Thank you to those that run this place..you guys let it run to see if it would work out..but it did not...I think you handled it in a very fair way...problems with having a world of collectors here... in English, and My Hat is off to those Members that were not born speaking Englsih and are trying.

Our Admin are Great... let me Stay on after my melt down (PTSS or what ever they call it now)

On a Rant..just want everyone to know that I think I understand way this happened..and the GREAT WAY ARE MODERATORS DEALT WITH IT

I'm finding it very hard to think anything good of the moderators at the moment. They seem to be having a cull of members for no justifiable reason that I can see. One of our more esteemed members not so long ago said that no-one should post an opinion on items unless they were absolutely sure that they were correct in what they were saying. A moderator backed this stance. Fast forward a few weeks, and two members get banned as a result of an HJ armband thread. they stuck to their beliefs and paid the price. And now we have just lost two more members (and maybe I will be in line for a ban after this). The reason? the rights and wrongs of metal detecting. Again I see no reason why they should have been banned. you get the moderators and 'super' moderators quoting rules about metal detecting in France, and banning someone for detecting and 'flouting' rules - even though he explained rather well why he considered he wasn't breaking the law. Now it seems to me that you moderators operate to double standards. We have a regular member from the US who often shows his relic items brought back from France. His Mg42 barrels from Omaha? beach are well documented on here. If it is a crime to remove artefacts from battlefields in France, and the forum cannot be seen to condone such transgressions, why has he not been banned too? Why have moderators said nothing about this?

I really am concerned at the way you moderators are flexing your muscles. You do not own this forum, most of us donate to the running of the forum. You are there to police the forum and ensure things are kept on an even keel. You are NOT there to get rid of people as you see fit. The way things are being run at the moment there is no fairness at all. You just ban people without any explanation. There is no right of appeal. You act like dictators. I have no doubt that one of two things will happen with this post. It will either be deleted to stop others reading it. Or I will be deleted for daring to question you authority. I am not on my own in my concerns at the way things are being done at the moment. So forgive me for being in no mood for heaping praise on people who do not deserve it. I really do like the forum, but I worry about the damage to it's integrity which is being perpetrated by some of the mods. it stinks. Hang your heads in shame.

Wanted to give a shout out to the moderators here for doing a fantastic job. God knows I can be a pain in the ass unafraid to call things out or to attention but at the same time when top work is done not afraid to make a compliment.

I know first hand how difficult and thankless and tiresome it can be to mod and admin a forum, and recently gave it up a few months ago on GHW2 so I could just kick back and enjoy forums once more as I had grown weary of them. Took a 3 month break from forums and now with the great job done here and my "home" forum, I am really enjoying them once more.

Hats off boys, keep up the great work!!!

    Doug

    I second the above.

You know not of what you speak. In the case of the two individuals banned on the HJ armband thread, neither were banned for anything in the thread.
One individual was banned as he had been previously banned twice and came back again under a third screen name. The other individual was banned for something that occured away from the thread and is frankly, none of your business. Unsubstantiated and unfounded comments such as yours do nothing but cause membership to misunderstand what has to happen here at times to keep things orderly. If you do not or can not live with the way the forum is run, don't stay.

May I say that I am deeply in debt to the many moderators with whom I cooperate in my area here. On a regular basis, we endure assaults from those who mean ill to the principles of this site,
and, while I am not acquainted with the instance above, or to what my friend Bob Coleman refers, I am so thankful for the good order and discipline that reign here.

    Harry the Mole-
when an individual is banned, part of the process is giving them the reason for being banned. If your friends who were banned did not provide you with that information, that is not our problem. Therefore, your statement abount an individual not knowing why they are banned is also incorrect. Frankly, you have no idea what goes on before an individual is banned. It is discussed and a consensus reached which can either be a temporary ban or a permanent ban. There are incidents which call for an immediate ban such as spammers or what occured last week, an individual posted pornographic images on a thread he started. A new member of whom we are sure who it was.

Apologies for going off-topic; I have no interest in providing my opinions about the moderation of this forum. However, I've been wondering for a while why 'Kyle's Bullets' was initially banned here. I've seen that person posting on WAF several times, and he doesn't seem overly belligerent, although I haven't spoken to him personally.

Kyle was banned a couple of years ago at the age of 12 due to inappropriate and insensitive things he posted regarding the Holocaust. I had nothing to do with any of the times he was banned. He has been in touch with me since he joined at WAF. I was considering making a request to the Administration to give him another shot. However, after sneaking back in twice under a new screen name, he has removed that option from happening in the near future.

Ah, that makes sense. Thank you for the explanation. Hopefully his past behavior was simply childhood ignorance and not a true personal belief.
