    Quiet thrilled with both new additions!!
    I am using the sellers pic's, and hope having them in a month or so.
    I was originaly planning to have my Belgian Congo stuff at a central place in the new war room, but that late medieval helmet and breastplate will do better, at that spot!

    Awesome additions. I'm loving the Breastplate and helmet. The bullet proof mark on the breastplate just adds the final touch of realism

    Thanks!
    It is rather strange to see a bullet proof mark on the left side; they usualy come on the right side.
    To me the helmet and cuirasse are mid 17 th century, for piqueneers, and the helmet could be Flemish...but more research will reveal it.

    Very true on the proof mark. But I am not that up to specs on what is right and what is wrong . But I do know that these were shot at to test the steel. Maybe the guy testing was a south paw( Left hander) Either way I'm still loving them and would love to wear them and chase my kids around the house wearing them.

    Hey Jerry,
    thanks.
    Two more weeks to get the cap....
    According to the research I have done so far the brest plate could be English civil war...
    I am going to ask a friend to measure the average thickness.
    Here is what I got so far;

    The helmet appears to be a Pikeman's 'Pot'. The breast plate is probably for a mounted trooper. Pikemen usually wore 'Tassets' attached to the lower part of the breast plate to protect their thighs. There appears to be no fastenings to the lower part of the plate for the Tassets, which is why I assume that it was probably for a mounted trooper.

    Hey Harry,
    thanks for your input.
    Both pieces where found together, but they have a very different patina, so probably got together years ago.
    The helmet indeed is a piqueneer, and probably Flemish for what i found so far.
    And the breast plate shows quiet some similarity to these one:
