Oscar winning actor Maximillian Schell dies aged 83.
Known for his portrayal of German officers in a host of films such as Cross of Iron, The Odessa File, and Counterpoint and also a defence attorney in the film Judgement at Nuremburg to name just a few, actor Maximillian Schell has died.

To find another like Schell will be impossible...he was unique.

I love the end of "Cross of Iron" where James Coburn takes him out of the bunker and says "I will show you where iron crosses grow" ,by Adrian
will be sadly missed.

Sad to hear of his passing - I enjoyed many of his performances, including in 'A Bridge Too Far'.
Very sad, a great actor may he rest in peace.
he was a truly great actor, he did some chilling work at times, R.I.P.
You cannot replace a great actor like Maximillian Schell.His portrayal of the defense lawyer in "Judgement At Nuremberg" was without equal.These actors were really the great ones.What goes for an actor nowadays couldn't shine his shoes.
He played some iconic roles in War films for which he will always be remembered !
