the biggest hobby I have had is collecting militaria and antiques in general since I was 11. Militaria for me skips around in time but I collect WWII (mostly American), WWI, Spanish American War, Revolutionary War and 30 Years War. Mostly lately I have been collecting WWII and wheelock related artifacts and accouterments. I also enjoy hiking and camping and do a little archaeology on the side. I have only a few professional digs under my belt and do not wish to actually harm a site that someone might actually learn from. Most of the time I just go down to the river and pull 2000 year old Cherokee pottery shards. I have pulled out about 3 cigar boxes full. There are limited places for interesting metal detecting although for a dig at my school we were at a camp ground in the national forest and found 30 06 casings where they were training in these mountains for the Alps. I also know the general whereabouts of a couple Confederate cannons that I am dying to search around but the undergrowth is so bad that I can only go in winter and I can't wait to try again this winter. I want to see the cannons but even if the owner gave me permission to buy one (which I doubt) I don't know how to get it down the mountain or what I would do with it after that (perhaps the biggest question). Still it is a 12 pounder and I would love a cannon ball that size.
Here is my latest find. It is a 1/64 scale diecast version of
a truck and trailer rig I helped build for the Doug Kalitta
drag race team. It's just a cheap toy to most but to me
it is a representation of something I spent four months working on.
Also pictured is the fullsized version as it sat in the parking lot
at work last winter.

Well ...............here's my other passion, taken 3 years and a ton of money to get her on the road. Full ground up restoration. I did the majority on my own. Going to register her this week, I imported her from Florida .......And she was rotten as a pear...........
Nice old Mustang.
My wife wont let me get a Mustang. She had three of them before
we were married and crashed all three. She claims they are bad
luck. ( at least for her)
