I agree with most comments offered here about 'Pawn Stars', and enjoy watching
the show - especially if any militaria comes up.

You must not forget that it is produced as entertainment, and I do believe most of the
items/prices are indeed contrived or 'chosen' to make/keep the show more interesting.

I've seen how these places operate, and I think anyone who blindly sells anything
to a 'business' of this sort, is a fool...........In the real world, a guy who brings an
item in, does not ever get to meet any 'expert' for opinion or evaluation.
    Regards,

    Steve.

Definitely not. In effect, they are getting a free appraisal, which never happens, and the pawn shop owner is skipping the chance to screw a guy out of some major money.

I enjoy both shows for different reasons, Pawn Stars has way more militaria and other amazing items, and American Pickers because they can sure find some amazing items in the middle of no where!!!!

i think Pawn Stars in contrived:come on,,,how many people REALLY bring the kind of stuff that shows up in to a local pawn shop,,,as stated earlier,,there is no dearth of buyers so why even mess with a pawn store with the reps that have been earned by these shops since they've been open,,plus they have a panel of "experts" who themselves are in business,,,they must script this show every week, run ads to bring in unusual stuff for them to lookover,,what a crock
I couldnt agree more, They seem to call in experts all the time, a true busness would know through experiance what most things were worth. The show is just that, a made for TV with a cast of "strange" people. John.

I watch it when there's a new episode. I applaud when a prospective customer says no and walks out. Rip offs in my opinion. The pickers are more down to earth. Ron

The owner of the Vegas shop mentioned on one show that he won't buy anything from the TR because it gives him the creeps. With that being said, it's one of my favorite shows!

    Hi
I watch both shows, porn stars some times crack me up when a guy goes in and says the item has been in the family for a hundred yrs or more, and the expert says it was made thirty yrs earlier. and Chumney well what a cornflake he is; but i do like american pickers there,s a lot to be found out there, maybe we should do it over here.
