Hi Guys, I was at a show over the Holiday weekend. Near our camp was a large wheelie bin. One of our guys went to dump some rubbish and mentioned a dealer had dumped a lot of books in the bin. We rescued these from destruction and these were my share of the haul. All WW2 dated and now safe in my collection.

Criminal to throw something like this away!

    Cheers, Ade.

It goes to show that no matter what it is we collect, the things we gather so much enjoyment and learning from, some will always think of as rubbish.
I shudder to think of the treasures that have been condemed to the bin over time...........

    Indeed!

I hate to see anything historical destroyed.

The book on Air Force Poetry is rather nice. Just found the poem "Johnny" which features in the 1945 film "The way to the stars". I just thought that was part of the film script and not an actual work.

    Cheers, Ade.

I've posted these before over time but here are my discarded treasures......
The flying helmet was found by my Mum in a 'dressing up' box at the school where she worked and the helmet and shell dressing bag I found at work in some cabinets due to be scrapped.
Non militaria related I found a shoe box in a bin, again, at work containing about two hundred envelopes all stamped with Victorian and Edwardian stamps, some containing letters and one on headed Longleat paper from the Marquess of Bath!

Unfortunatley Ade it shows that some dealers actually care nothing at all for History itself , well rescued
