Hello all,
IMG_7110.jpgIMG_7111.jpgIMG_7109.jpgIMG_7108.jpgIMG_7110.jpgIMG_7111.jpgIMG_7109.jpgIMG_7108.jpg The attached photos are what I like to call examples of my "reasons I don't Collect SS items"
This came a part of a mixed lot a while back. no financial loss here but wanted to share this with you guys and maybe get it slotted into the rogues gallery.
Here is my analysis:
Medal is bronze weighs 23 grams.
suspension is not the correct shape.
eylet on the medal is also not the correct shape.
Runes on the reverse are chubby and poorly struck
the "pebbled" fields on the reverse are inconsistent due to bad fabrication, not wear.
edges of the medal have been artificially aged or dented with a hammer or similar object.
The give away within 2 seconds for me is chunk of medal on the reverse between the 12 and 1 o'clock positions.
Lacks Quality Reich workmanship Sadly I think this is good enough to trick a less experienced collector.
Happy to take this out of the marketplace.
Will be putting this in the custody of the "lady of the lake"
I have a personal custom of taking these types of fake medals and throwing them into the center of a local lake, I dont like to sell items like these even as repro, I want to make sure so they will never be on the market to possible fool people down the line.
Regards
Bryan
