    Default Untrust in overseas sellers

    Evening Gents.

I thought i would share this with you chaps as this is one of the problems encountered too often in my opinion. Just been having a conversation with John casino as i stumbled across his site the other day , there was a certain item i was interested in and asked him about shipping to the UK and mentioned that i wanted to pay via paypal. I got a reply saying that the only way he would accept paypal was for me to send him the cash as a friend / family payment . As so things are secure his end , well that's all well for him but if anything goes wrong for me i lose my cash. I said can't i just pay via regular payment and pay his 4% paypal fees aswell. He said yes but he would need references of who i have bought from etc?! , so i sent him the info. But it was not good enough and he needed to contact one of the sellers in the next 4 days for varification. 4-5 emails were exchanged in total and i feel put out by it all as i am an honest bloke and i was treated as not so just because i don't live in the U.S , this is the 2nd time i have encountered this type of attitude , the other was from e-militaria who also acted the same way. All i can say is that it has left me feeling disappointed and if this is the future of internet militaria collecting then god help us.

    Hi Jim

I have never come across this before, I have recently bought a number of items from the US by paypal with no problem. Sounds a bit odd to me

Strange to be honest, I buy mostly from Europe and don't have the problem.

I have dealt with Casino once before and I had no problems (I live in Norway)--- I actually used wire transfer, this only AFTER checking with others to see if he was a good dealer or not of course. His strict Paypal policy seems to be due to their lack of tolerance when it comes to transactions dealing with Third Reich artifacts... I know several other dealers I have dealt with complaining of this same issue. From my experience John Casino is a good guy, honest and communicative ---

That said, most other dealers I have come across DO accept overseas Paypal transactions as a general rule and I also, like you, find PP to be the easiest and safest way of paying. But, in the end, this is a matter that is entirely up to the individual dealers --- Hope you can work it out for the item that you want though!

No problems with overseas transactions as of yet here either

I know what you mean , i couldn't be bothered with it in the end so deleted the seller from my bookmarks and won't be visiting the site again which is a shame as he has lost a potential long term buyer. I always treat others how i expect to be treated. Having to give references to be able to buy an item in my opinion is absolutely ludicrous.
