sorry for the loss of your comrade Ade, R.I.P to a great brother in arms. SALUTE.
Here is a saying that has stuck with me for many years now, and i plan on having it inscribed on my tombstone.
When the final taps is sounded and we lay aside life's cares,
And we do the last and gloried parade on heaven's shining stairs,
And the angels bid us welcome and the harps begin to play
We can draw a million canteen checks and spend them in a day.
It is then we'll hear St. Peter tell us loudly with a yell,
"Take a front seat, you soldier men, you've done your hitch in Hell."
Brian
Lest we forget
Sorry to here the sad newes of your friend and comrade passing away Ade , sounds like a great man , as they all were , cheers Raymond

Patrick
It's only going to be too late when the last one dies. Get out there and talk to people! When I was 8 years old I sat in my parents' restaurant every day and this U.S. 5th Army vet came in regularly. He sat with me and told me all kinds of stories, which I unfortunately can't remember much of now. I didn't have the interest then and I wish I would have. Find yourself some vets and get every word of their stories, or you will regret it later on in life.
R.I.P. Solly. It would have been great to have known you.
I was surprised to see this old thread brought back up.
Indeed, take the time to talk to any Vets you meet. It is time very well spent.
Cheers, Ade.
