Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
House Carles at the Battle of Hastings
Yeah i no mate, its just that badge was brought in for people to display that they were in the forces, if you have a chest full of gongs on parade why need at veterans badge...just my opinion...
Donnie
Three Durham Light Infantry Vets . Tommy Wilson, Frankie Grant and Dickie Atkinson at Lingevres on 7/6/2009 with the hedgeline full of MG42's they assaulted on 14/6/1944 in the background
All have got plenty of gongs but still wear there vet badge and many other badges/medals awarded in Normandy and elsewhere, to them it;s as important as the gongs so wear it on parade or anywhere you want that's my take on it
cheers
Paul
Ps Have you noticed Tommy's Fathers WW1 medals , MM and 2 bars !!! Frankie did Normandy , the Rhine crossing and Germany and Dickie whose 90 did France 1940 , Dunkirk , Western desert , Tunisia, Sicily , Italy, Normandy , the Rhine and Germany God bless them all

Hi Paul,
Yes i think you are right, I think when we meet our old mates who
know what its all about we all think we are twenty again.
I bet those three are good old boys, My dad was very proud
of serving in the army, he wa a cpl, in the Royal Artillery wounded twice in ww2, But we lost him back in 72, still miss him loads,
Bless them all.
Dave.
