    Default Visit to Warsaw

Just got back from Warsaw where we stayed on Marszałkowska, a bit of of grim looking street lined with horrible looking Stalinist apartment blocks which reminded me of Karl Marx Allee in Berlin.
First visit was the Polish uprising museum.

The Kubus armoured car and Lightning submachine gun particularly interested me, more of Kubus later!..

Unfortunately, parts of Warsaw were rebuild following Stalinist style, which had nothing to do with Warsaw of 1939.
Still the city survived more than any other city, except Rome :-)

I was very surprised to see the original Kubus armoured car, at first i thought it was a modern replica but it's the real deal. I was really pleased to see such a rare and famous vehicle.
The damaged Hetzer was great to have a look at, it really amazed me how small it is and how the hell the crew fitted in there!..

Kubus is one of a kind and it was rebuild post-war by one of the original builders.

"After the "liberation" of Warsaw by the Red Army and Polish People’s Army on January 17th of 1945, "Kubus" was found where it was left by "Krybar" on September 6th of 1944. It was then moved to the Muzeum Wojska Polskiego (Museum of the Polish Army) in Warsaw, where after few years it was renovated by "Globus" himself. "Kubus" was renovated again recently and is on display near the entrance to the museum. In mid 2004, replica was completed and put on display at the Muzeum Powstania Warszawskiego (The Warsaw Uprising Museum) in Warsaw. Since then, it has also been used in some war remembrance celebrations in Warsaw."
