Ditto to "The Forgotten Soldier" 4md. Even though it's now being widely considered a fictional account, still a great story.

I finally got around to seeing "War Horse"; just came home from the cinema.
I must say it is very Spielbergian indeed. Big emotions, big skies, big setpieces and never far away from overdoing it with the pathos. Still, Spielberg really knows how to do such epics and how to play the audiences' emotional keys masterfully. It's simply impossible not to be touched by it.
The whole Somme sequence is particularly impressive. I liked the portrayal of the German troops as well.
By the way: The film's German title is "Gefährten" (Companions).
